Vitalik’s Wallet Transfers 400 ETH Valued at $600K to Coinbase

Blockchain analysts have identified a series of Ethereum (ETH) transactions from a wallet linked to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin in September 2023, totaling more than $3.9 million.

On September 25th, a 400 ETH transaction, valued at approximately $632,000, was recorded from Vitalik’s wallet to Coinbase. According to Spot On Chain and other blockchain monitoring profiles, this transaction is part of a pattern of ETH deposits into centralized exchanges over the past ten days. Spot On Chain estimates that Buterin has deposited around 2,421 ETH, equivalent to $3.94 million, since September 15th.

Spot On Chain’s analysis revealed deposits of 321 ETH made to Kraken between September 15th and September 19th. Additionally, Buterin reportedly made several transactions totaling 1,700 ETH to Bitstamp on September 17th and September 20th and deposited 500 ETH to Paxos on September 19th. Blockchain data also indicates a transfer of 2,000 ETH (equivalent to $4.9 million) to the address responsible for these transactions from another wallet associated with the Ethereum co-founder.

According to Spot On Chain, the source of the 2,000 ETH transaction is an address (0xD04daa65144b97F147fbc9a9B45E741dF0A28fd7) more commonly associated with Buterin than the intermediary address (0x5567A4bE2D5b77F5Fd870f99Ed9167Feab8831B1) responsible for transferring funds to exchanges.

This series of transactions follows a report of a 600 ETH ($1 million) transaction from the “vitalik.eth” address on August 21st, which was identified by on-chain monitoring platforms.
