Swiss Crypto Custody Giant Taurus Partners with Teylor: Tokenizing Assets for German SMEs

Taurus, a Swiss firm specializing in crypto custody supported by Deutsche Bank (DBK), has teamed up with Teylor, a fintech lending platform based in Zurich focusing on the German SME market. This collaboration aligns with the ongoing trend of tokenizing various assets.

Teylor’s credit portfolio tokens, structured under the guidance of law firm Allen and Overy, are now eligible for trading on Taurus’ TDX marketplace, as announced by the companies. The tokenization process, overseen by a Luxembourg-based investment entity, complies with Swiss and European regulations, as highlighted by Taurus co-founder Lamine Brahimi.

Brahimi also mentioned that institutional investors are expected to invest significantly in the tokenized debt product for the German SME market within the next fortnight. Brahimi emphasized the significance of the TDX market, stating it as Taurus’ alternative business alongside custody, having executed over 20 transactions, including tokenized equity, debt, structural products, and art, collectively valued at over $1 billion in notional value.

The global surge in tokenizing traditional finance has found fertile ground in Switzerland, known for its crypto-friendly environment, offering institutional-grade blockchain treatment to diverse asset classes.

Teylor, catering loans ranging from 100,000 euros ($109,000) to 1.5 million euros ($1.6 million) to Germany’s thriving Mittelstand economy, counts among its supporters U.K. bank Barclays (BARC). Patrick Stäuble, CEO of the fintech firm, disclosed that they recently provided nearly $25 million in loans. Stäuble explained their focus on businesses generating revenues between $5 and $50 million, filling a niche between traditional bank branches and corporate finance departments. The upcoming tokenized loans will target exceptional German businesses spanning industries such as industrials, chemicals, precision machinery, and import/export.
