Revitalizing Fan Connections: MLS Prioritizes NFTs in Engagement Strategy

MLS Launches Dedicated Division for NFT Marketplace

Major League Soccer (MLS) is ramping up its presence in the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) space with the establishment of a dedicated division focused on developing, marketing, and managing a centralized NFT marketplace for the league. This move underscores MLS’s commitment to exploring innovative avenues for fan engagement and revenue generation.

Search Begins for Vice-President of Consumer Products

In line with its NFT expansion strategy, MLS has initiated the search for a Vice-President of Consumer Products – Gaming, Collectibles, and Emerging Technology. The chosen candidate will spearhead the team responsible for overseeing the league’s NFT initiatives, including product strategy, design, commercial marketing, and community management. With an annual base salary ranging between $200,000 and $250,000, the role presents an exciting opportunity for seasoned professionals in the digital and sports industries.

MLS’s Evolution in NFTs

MLS’s foray into NFTs began in May 2021 when it partnered with creative agency Secret Walls to auction street art-inspired NFTs during nationally televised games. Building on this initial venture, MLS embarked on its first league-wide NFT partnership with fantasy sports platform Sorare, creating NFTs for all MLS players. This move reflects MLS’s proactive approach to leveraging blockchain technology to enhance fan engagement.

Fan Engagement at the Forefront

Fan engagement has long been a focal point of MLS’s growth strategy. Recognizing the tech-savvy nature of its fanbase, MLS has been at the forefront of integrating emerging technologies into the fan experience. From blockchain fan token partnerships to immersive metaverse initiatives, MLS continues to innovate to meet the evolving preferences of its audience.

Responsibilities of the Vice-President Role

The newly created role of Vice-President of Consumer Products – Gaming, Collectibles, and Emerging Technology comes with a set of crucial responsibilities. These include:

  • Driving the Web 3.0 consumer product roadmap.
  • Launching NFT collectable drops
  • Forging major product partnerships.
  • Also, the appointee will play a pivotal role in fostering continuous engagement among fans within the NFT marketplace and cultivating relationships with new and existing licensees.

MLS’s Commitment to Innovation

As Major League Soccer embraces the digital age, its latest endeavours in the NFT space underscore its commitment to innovation and fan-centricity. With the establishment of a dedicated division and the recruitment of a seasoned executive, MLS is poised to unlock new opportunities for fan interaction, revenue growth, and brand expansion in the dynamic world of NFTs.
