PUBG Publisher Partners with Circle for In-Game Wallet in New Metaverse

In a move set to revolutionize the gaming industry, the publisher behind the wildly popular game PUBG, Krafton, has teamed up with Circle, the issuer of USD Coin (USDC), to introduce a groundbreaking integration in the upcoming metaverse game, Overdare.

Overdare, a venture focusing on the burgeoning metaverse space, revealed its partnership with Circle to implement in-game Web3 wallets and facilitate USDC payouts for its gaming content creators. This strategic alliance aims to simplify crypto transactions for creators within the Overdare universe.

Circle’s announcement on February 26th shed light on the collaboration, emphasizing the integration of its Programmable Wallets service into Overdare’s ecosystem. This integration will empower gaming content creators to seamlessly receive USDC payouts for their contributions, marking a significant step towards bridging the gap between traditional gaming platforms and the Web3 space.

Henry Park, CEO of Overdare, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting Circle’s commitment to regulatory compliance and ensuring creators’ access to their earnings. Park believes this collaboration will provide creators with a reliable avenue to monetize their content within the metaverse.

Jeremy Allaire, co-founder and CEO of Circle, echoed Park’s sentiments, emphasizing the potential of the collaboration to shape the future of digital entertainment. Allaire expressed excitement about enabling Web3 wallets and USDC payout support within Overdare, emphasizing Circle’s dedication to fostering the creator economy.

The integration of USDC as an alternative settlement method within Overdare reflects the platform’s commitment to embracing blockchain technology and providing creators with diverse revenue streams. This move comes amidst a growing interest in blockchain gaming tokens, exemplified by the recent surge in valuation of Web3 game Pixel’s crypto token, which reached $2.7 billion following its listing on Binance.

Overdare, a joint venture between Naver Z and Krafton, aims to leverage nonfungible tokens (NFTs) and Unreal Engine 5 technology to create a dynamic metaverse experience. With Circle’s support, Overdare is poised to redefine the gaming landscape, offering creators unprecedented opportunities to thrive in the Web3 era. As the metaverse continues to evolve, collaborations like this are paving the way for a new era of digital entertainment.
