Nvidia Partners with NSF for AI Advancement

Nvidia and the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) have joined forces for the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource (NAIRR) pilot, aiming to broaden access to tools for “responsible AI discovery and innovation.” Nvidia pledges $30 million in technology contributions over the next two years, providing insights from researchers to enhance technology effectiveness.

The initiative, aligned with the Biden administration’s AI executive order, envisions offering computing, data, models, and software access to researchers and communities, emphasizing the urgency of developing resources for the “future of AI in America,” according to NSF Director Sethuraman Panchanathan.

“By investing in AI research through the NAIRR pilot, the United States unleashes discovery and impact and bolsters its global competitiveness.”

Additionally, Nvidia has partnered with data center operator Equinix to deliver supercomputing systems to corporate clients. Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, notes that generative AI is “transforming every industry.” Equinix, a California-based company with 248 data centers in 31 countries, will collaborate with Nvidia to provide powerful computing capabilities, reflecting the growing impact of AI across various sectors.

“Now, enterprises can own NVIDIA AI supercomputing and software, paired with the operational efficiency of Equinix management, in hundreds of data centers worldwide.”

In another move, Nvidia commits $30 million to the NAIRR pilot, collaborating with the NSF on responsible AI innovation. This partnership emphasizes the urgency of developing AI resources for America’s future.

Nvidia’s commitment includes contributions to technology, insights from researchers, and the provision of DGX Cloud AI supercomputing resources and AI Enterprise software to enhance the effectiveness of AI technology.
