El Salvador Launches Updated Bitcoin Diploma Program

Mi Primer Bitcoin, an El Salvador-based Bitcoin education project, recently announced a redesigned Bitcoin Diploma curriculum that incorporates a new open-source model. The effort began in 2021, coinciding with El Salvador’s landmark decision to accept Bitcoin as legal tender.

Comprehensive Curriculum with Open-Source Approach

The new program, created in collaboration with Bitcoin instructors throughout the world, provides a comprehensive curriculum covering Bitcoin’s history, technical complexity, and practical applications. Notably, the program’s resources, including the Student Workbook, are now available for free on GitHub, to encourage global collaboration and translation initiatives.

John Dennehy, the founder of Mi Primer Bitcoin, emphasized the transformative power of Bitcoin education in fostering creativity, innovation, and financial literacy.

Dennehy emphasized, in a statement to Cointelegraph, the importance of the curriculum update in promoting the project’s objective of empowering individuals through Bitcoin education.

Global Impact and Partnerships

Mi Primer Bitcoin’s previous diploma has already reached over 25,000 students in El Salvador, leading to numerous graduation ceremonies. Partnering with the Ministry of Education, the initiative aims to integrate Bitcoin into the public school curriculum by 2024.

Mi Primer Bitcoin has expanded its reach beyond El Salvador by cooperating with educational institutions and governments throughout the world. Bitcoin Cuba has announced a partnership with the program to deliver Bitcoin instruction to local communities, broadening its worldwide reach.
