Darewise Entertainment’s ‘Life Beyond’ Blends NFTs and Metaverse Gaming in a $3.5 Million Token Sale

The metaverse’s demise has been grossly exaggerated, and venture cash is still flowing into businesses that are working to build it, or at least what many in Web3 hope will be the next wave of gaming experiences. The “Life Beyond” game’s creator Darewise Entertainment revealed on Tuesday that token presales had brought in $3.5 million.

“For this round, we are thrilled to welcome meaningful investors who not only believe in our project and values but who also come from across the spectrum of gaming and Web3 culture,” Darewise Entertainment CEO Benjamin Charbit stated in a statement. “It’s a significant indicator of confidence in building on the Bitcoin ecosystem.”

Players in the open-world science fiction game “Life Beyond” strive to create a brand-new society that is supported by NFTs and a tokenized digital economy.

The team behind the Ethereum-based ApeCoin (APE) token, which debuted in March 2022, collaborated on the development of the Darewise coin, which is expected to go live early next year.

Darewise Entertainment, which was established in 2018, intends to develop its metaverse environment around Bitcoin Ordinals, the NFT-like phenomenon that swept the cryptocurrency market early this year. Users can “inscribe” pictures, text, and even video games on the Bitcoin blockchain using the Ordinals protocol, which also enables the creation of BRC-20 tokens. Digital assets that are documented to a single satoshi, the smallest unit of value in Bitcoin, are called ordinal inscriptions.

Gamefi Ventures, London Real Ventures, Citizen Capital, Blocore, and Animoca Ventures were among the investors in the token sale, according to Darewise Entertainment, a division of Animoca Brands.

When the initial token sale announcement was made last month, Darewise Entertainment stated that the Darewise token would serve as the universe’s official currency and that the metaverse’s ambitions for gaming and brand integrations, real-world experiences, and more would be incorporated.

A permanent, far-off form of the internet is referred to as the metaverse. People communicate in a shared virtual world called the metaverse using 3D avatars.

Animoca Brands, a Hong Kong-based software firm, was founded in 2014. By September 2022, the company was valued at $5.9 billion. The popular Ethereum-based open-world video game The Sandbox, which has served as the virtual residence for several well-known celebrities, including Snoop Dogg and Paris Hilton, is the creation of Animoca Brand.

Open-world video games and digital treasures may not immediately spring to mind when thinking about blockchains, but supporters view Bitcoin as the ideal platform for creating a connected cosmos.

“We invested in Darewise and ‘Life Beyond’ because we are drawn by its pioneering integration of the Bitcoin ecosystem and an immersive experience that promises to reshape the landscape of digital exploration and connectivity,” Blocore founder James Lim concluded.
