Artificial intelligence developer Anthropic has announced that its AI chatbot, Claude, is now available for use in Europe. According to a blog post dated May 14, individuals and businesses can now access Claude via a web application and an iOS app.
The chatbot boasts “strong levels of comprehension and fluency” in multiple European languages, including French, German, Spanish, and Italian. Previously, European users needed to employ a virtual private network (VPN) to use the chatbot.
AI Chatbot Claude: Enhanced Features and Comparison with ChatGPT
This European launch follows the introduction of Claude 3 in the United States in March 2024. Claude 3 Anthropic’s most powerful AI system to date, includes the capability to analyze images.
Moreover, the company also recently released the Claude API in Europe. This allows developers to integrate Anthropic’s AI models into various applications, websites, and services.
Users on social media platform X have been actively comparing Claude with ChatGPT. They noted that while ChatGPT excels in reasoning, Claude shows superior eloquence in writing.
Anthropic’s Rapid Growth and Investment
Founded in 2021 by former members of OpenAI, Anthropic has quickly become a notable player in the AI industry. The company has also secured significant investments from major tech giants. Amazon had pledged up to $4 billion in September 2023, followed by a $2 billion commitment from Google the next month.
In addition to expanding access to Claude, Anthropic launched a beta of its “tool use” feature on April 5. This feature, available to all Anthropic Message API users, allows real-time information lookup and integration of third-party features into Claude’s workflow. Users can insert code snippets into their accounts, enabling Claude to access and utilize external information during conversations, enhancing its utility and functionality.
