9GAG CEO Ray Chan Acquires Stephen Chow NFT for $47,300

Ray Chan, the co-founder and CEO of the popular entertainment platform 9GAG, has made headlines with his recent purchase of a rare Stephen Chow “Nobody” non-fungible token (NFT). The transaction, completed at a price of 19.527 Ether ($47,300), marks a staggering 3,155% premium over the collection’s current floor price of 0.6 Ether ($1,450).

The NFT, titled Nobody 889 “Monkey King,” boasts a special Sun trait present in less than 0.01% of the entire collectible series. Chan expressed his admiration for the acquisition in a poetic statement, saying, “One actor a year, Stephen Chow for a century; There are millions of little people, but the supreme treasure is unparalleled; Pictures are valuable, [but] memories are priceless,”

The Nobody NFT collection was launched earlier this month by acclaimed Hong Kong director Stephen Chow, renowned for the iconic film Kung Fu Hustle. The collection has swiftly gained traction, surpassing 10,516 Ether in total trading volume. Created in collaboration with Chinese-American rapper Jin Au-Yeung (MC Jin), the NFTs were introduced on the Moonbox platform developed by the Hong Kong startup of the same name. In a partnership with cryptocurrency exchange OKX on January 10, Chow gave away 2,500 Nobody NFTs out of a total of 10,000 in an event that drew over 125,000 applicants.

Ray Chan, leading 9GAG in its embrace of Web3 technologies, is the CEO of Memeland, a Web3 venture studio initiated by 9GAG.
